Graduate school "A Functional Genomics Approach to Infection Biology"

In the framework of a joint German-Israeli research training group, graduate students will address three key areas of infection biology: i) the role of genome evolution in pathogenicity with Escherichia coli as a model; ii) the role of metabolism and stress adaptation as prerequisites for sustaining infection in a comparative study of Escherichia coli and Staphylococcus aureus and iii) the interplay of host and pathogen in initial stages of infection including invasion of the host cell.
The graduate school educates a total number of 10 PhD students (5 positions in Greifswald, 2 positions in Berlin, 3 positions in Tel Aviv).

Speakers: Professor Dr. Uwe Völker, Professor Dr. Michael Hecker
