Interdisciplinary Working Groups

In many fields today academically well founded answers require an interdisciplinary approach. This is especially true of the ethical, legal and economic questions raised by rapid developments in medicine and applied sciences. With the interdisciplinary working group "Pharmacogenomics in Therapy - Possibilities and Limits" the Alfried Krupp Wissenschaftskolleg is trying out a form of interdisciplinary co-operation which aims to elaborate academically founded recommendations and practical suggestions for people in responsible positions in politics, the economy and other social fields. Such a working group comprises 5 to 8 proven experts who each contribute the perspective of a different discipline to the collaboration. The members of the working group meet at regular intervals to elaborate a point of view, starting from a "germ paper" which is revised and expanded from session to session, to be presented to the public on completion.
