Fellow project: „On the prediction of crises: A behavioral economics analysis“

The research project focuses on the question of how people form expectations. The prediction of future crises and the reaction to past crises will be analyzed from the viewpoint of behavioral economics. For this purpose crises will be understood as rare but influential events with negative consequences. The project will unite the existing literature on expectation formation, on social media sentiment and on preferences over extreme risks. In this way, the project will contribute to development of a more realistic theory of human behavior. Ultimately the findings could help to improve the prediction of crises and the responses to them.
