The Academy of Sciences in Hamburg is currently carrying out eight long-term research projects. Their topics range from ancient manuscripts to contemporary issues. What they have in common is that they lay the foundations for further research in the humanities. They also provide insights for the present and the future. The exhibition presents long-term research in the humanities in northern Germany for the first time. The lecture at the exhibition opening will also address the broad disciplinary scope of these long-term research projects. What unites them all is that they provide answers to fundamental questions: Where do we come from? How have we evolved?
