A Healthy Planet: Complex Scientific Legacy, Conceptual Challenge and Transdisciplinary Task

Veranstaltungssprache: Englisch, Fokus: VIELFALT DES WISSENS

OneHealth attempts to integrate, balance and optimize human, animal and ecosystem health, thereby reconfiguring the relationship between medicine, ecology and health policy. My talk takes OneHealth as a point of departure to conceive of a genealogy of interconnections between ecology and medicine, e.g. in disease ecology, 1970s/80s Gaia theory Or microbiome research. I will examine the complex legacy of holistic health conceptions as well as challenges of ascribing health or disease to entities beyond the individual bodies. I will also examine what effects OneHealth as a research strategy may have on the stakes of various involved disciplines, from human and veterinary medicine to the biological or environmental sciences or the humanities.
