In the post-genomic era, the availability of the genome sequences provides the basis for a comprehensive understanding of cell physiology and infection biology as an entity. This is an ambitious goal which can only be accomplished if a broad spectrum of modern functional genomics technologies as well as traditional genetics and biochemical approaches are used in an integrated effort to bring the genome sequence to cell biology.
The present conference will bring together experts in the fields of physiology, biochemistry, infection biology, comparative genomics, and bioinformatics and thereby will create a stimulating scientific environment for the graduate students of the Alfried Krupp Graduate School „Functional Genomics of Pathogens“.
