The workshop is organized by the Alfried Krupp Institute for Advanced Study in cooperation with the Institute for Slavic Studies, University of Greifswald. It is curated by Prof. Dr. Roman Dubasevych, Head of the Institute for Slavic Studies / Chair of Ukrainian Studies, University of Greifswald, and Dr. Natalia Skorokhod, Senior Fellow, Alfried Krupp Institute for Advanced Study, Greifswald.
This event brings together scholars, playwrights, theatre makers, and cultural practitioners to discuss how texts, theatrical forms, memories, and artistic practices move, transform, and survive in times of war, displacement, censorship, and political rupture.
The first part of the day will focus on academic perspectives on genres, memory, selfhood, trauma, exile, and cultural transformation in times of rupture. In the second part, invited playwrights and theatre makers will present and discuss their recent work, including new plays and performance projects created across languages, borders, and exile contexts.
